Description
Not really a Holiday Wish, since ~Zephandolf doesn't have one, but a holiday gift nonetheless for my best online friend.
Zeph and I have known each other for YEARS now; met through a guild on that old site Neopets. Wow, that was long ago. Good times.
I've drawn Zeph's main character, Kerrik the Fox, twice now, so I wanted to look at some of his other characters. These are Luko (left) and Helphan (right), two wolf brothers. Originally I was going to go for my traditional cartoony style, since that's how I draw and his characters are cartoon-style anyway. Then I decided to make it realistic. I REALLY like how it turned out. The hardest part by far, however, was the icy breaths - I must have scraped those layers five or six times. I'm not entirely pleased with how Luko turned out, mostly because the photo ref I used had sunlight coming from the opposite direction (note to self - even if you like the pose of the wolf in the picture, keep searching if the sunlight is supposed to be from a different direction!)
Overall, however, I'm pleased with how this came out.
(However, I can't look at this without thinking of scenes from Avatar: the Last Airbender, specifically the two The Boiling Rock episodes, because that's what I was listening to / watching when I painted this. )
Happy Holidays, Zephy!
